The Susan Grosser Distinguished Service Award

We are excited to announce The Susan Grosser Distinguished Service Award which will be awarded annually to honor a community member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to Daughters of Israel and the broader community. Susan Grosser, of blessed memory, devoted her professional life to senior care. As Executive Director of Daughters of Israel, she worked tirelessly to ensure outstanding service and compassion for Daughters’ residents and their families, as well as seniors throughout our community. Her unwavering dedication and inspirational leadership left a lasting legacy. We are honored to celebrate her memory with the Susan Grosser Distinguished Service Award, recognizing individuals whose distinguished community service and selfless acts have made a meaningful impact on the community and whose leadership inspires others to do the same.

Award Recipient: Larry Rothenberg

Larry Rothenberg has dedicated his time, effort, and support to Daughters of Israel for over thirty years. His journey with Daughters began in 199O, when he and his family started volunteering at the Friday night Havurah services as a way of honoring Larry’s mother who passed away suddenly in 1989. Together with his wife and 2 daughters, Larry lent a hand and celebrated Shabbat with residents and their families for the next 3 decades. In 1997 their daughter Sarah was honored at the UJA Major Gifts Dinner as an Unsung Hero for being such a dedicated volunteer at Daughters. Larry has exemplified extraordinary leadership and insight as a long-standing member of the Board of Governors and as Chair of the Investment Committee. His thoughtful, steady counsel has been instrumental in guiding our organization forward. A generous supporter of this event and many other Daughters of Israel programs, Larry is deeply committed to our mission of caring for our seniors. In addition to Daughters, Larry has also held leadership positions throughout the years on various community boards including the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest, Golda Och Academy, Israel Bonds, and the Rabbinical College of America. Professionally, Larry serves as Managing Director at Liberty Wealth Partners within the Rockefeller Global Family Office. We are privileged to recognize Larry Rothenberg as the recipient of the Susan Grosser Distinguished Service Award, Larry and Susan knew each other well and shared a love for the same type of music. They would frequently say to each other---”Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” J. Garcia
